Paris is one of those places on earth that no matter what time of the year you visit it will take your breath away. Not only that is by far the most romantic cities we’ve been to but it’s timeless and always makes you want to go back. When people say “there is something magical in the air” they are not joking around, it is true.
When I first went to Paris in 1999, to study fashion design, I fell in love with it immediately. I left a piece of my heart there knowing that one day I would return with someone that I love. Eighteen years later, I was thrilled to visit my favorite city again but this time with my love and life Mikey.
Visiting Paris is an experience that everyone should feel. Although, words can’t describe its allure and essence, nor can pictures do justice, we’ve put together our 16 best picture-worthy places for you.
1. The Eiffel Tower
Probably the most iconic symbol of Paris if not the whole of France. No matter how many times you see it and stare at, it will always inspire and wow you. There’s something so magical about it. Make sure you see it at night time with all its magic and twinkling lights.
2. Champ de Mars
Le Parc du Champ de Mars is one of the most famous places for a picnic with the view of the Eiffel Tower. It’s a beautiful place to walk around and rest while admiring the beauty.
3. Trocadero steps
The most Instagram famous spot for photos with the Eiffel Tower. Keep in mind that is always crowded so the best time to go is early in the morning. It’s worth waking up before the sun, trust us. Also, it’s a great place to be for sunset but embrace the crowds of people trying to take photos.
4. Arc de Triomphe
No doubt is it the second most famous monument in Paris. We think the best time is just before sunset and definitely, try to go to the top. The views from there look astonishing. Just remember to book your ticket online instead of waiting in the long lines.
5. Sacré-Cœur Basilica
The 19th century Roman Catholic church is located on the highest point of Montmartre. It’s generally a very crowded place, which is expected but we recommend going to the top of the dome from where the view of the city is heart-stopping. It is the second-highest viewpoint after the Eiffel Tower and so worth it to go.
6. The Bridges over The Seine
One of the most romantic ways to experience Paris is taking a walk along the banks of the river Seine. You will pass by many beautiful bridges where you can feel the true Parisian spirit. Watching a sunset over the river will leave you delighted.
7. The Louvre Pyramid
The massive glass pyramid stands in front of the biggest museum in the world, Louvre. It is a spectacular avant-garde style architecture that brings many tourists from all over the world to admire her exquisiteness.
8. Jardins de Luxembourg
The magnificent gardens are located between Saint-Germain-des-Prés and the Latin Quarter and cover over 25 hectares of land. It was definitely our most favorite garden where we enjoyed walking around the green lush and lovely flowers. As many other places, we recommend going early in the morning so you can completely zen out before the crowds arrive.
9. Notre Dame Cathedral
The impressive Gothic masterpiece is located on the Île de la Cité, and you can spend hours marveling at its glory. The impeccable details make it the most photographed cathedral in the world.
10. Square René Viviani
Settled right across from Notre Dame is this hidden and lesser-known garden gem. There were no crowds of tourists and it was a cute little peaceful park that we really enjoyed.
11. The Riverside Bouquinistes
Strolling along the banks of the river Seine, you can’t miss the used-book sellers (bouquinistes). There you can find everything from watercolor painting, old postcards and vintage books that will transfer you back in time.
12. Aux Vieux Paris d’Arcole
Tucked in a quiet little street, feet away from Notre Dame, this charming little restaurant is a very popular Instagramers place. It is very cute and picture perfect that makes you feel like your in a scene of a Parisian movie.
13. The Pont Alexandre III bridge
We think this is the most beautiful bridges of all in Paris. The best is to go there before sunset and wait until the lights are on, it feels like you are in a fairytale. The bridge is gorgeously decorated with lampposts, golden statues, and sculptures of cherubs and nymphs.
14. Shakespear and Company
This must be one of the most famous bookstores in the world and once you get to see it in person you can understand why. Their cafe right next to the store was our favorite spot that you must visit.
15. The Lovelocks bridge
It is unbelievable how many love locks this bridge holds, it’s almost like a piece of art now. We like to call ourselves a romantic couple and we love each other endlessly but honestly, I don’t know how we feel about the love locks. And No, we didn’t lock one. Love doesn’t need chains.
16. Fontaine des Mers and Obélisque de Louxor
Situated in the place de la Concorde, these two impressive monuments are surprisingly underrated. We find the architecture very fascinated and worth a visit.
