Elounda Peninsula – A stay to remember
“Traveling – it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller”
Do you need travel inspiration for your next vacation or reasons to splurge on some superb hotel? Do you want a wow factor every time you look out the window and a sense of peace and belonging? If yes, let us take you to Crete and one fabulous place to stay, Elounda Peninsula.
Elounda Peninsula – A stay to remember
Greece is one of those destinations where many fascinating luxury hotels battle for your stay, but Elounda Peninsula stands out from them all with its breathtaking location, omniscient service, awe-inspiring Six Senses Spa, and the ability to make you feel like not wanting to leave.
We had the honor to end our one month in Greece with a remarkable stay at Elounda Peninsula All-suite Hotel, which is part of the ‘Elounda SA Hotels & Resorts’ collection. It has two sister hotels, Porto Elounda Golf & Spa Resort and Elounda Mare Relais & Châteaux Hotel where you can use their facilities. Although having the advantages of a resort you can completely enjoy exclusive intimate privacy at one of the 54 suites with private pool.
Elounda Peninsula offers unbeatable views of Mirabello Bay and the Aegean Sea. The location is perfect on the northeast part of Crete, neither too busy nor too isolated, offering crystal clear seas, spectacular coastline, shaded beaches, and archeological sites. It’s worth renting a car and exploring the area, visit the island of Spinalonga, walk along and swim at the peninsula of Kolokitha and explore the Agios Nikolaos town. To get to the hotel you can fly to Heraklion airport which is just over an hour drive, or you can get a ferry if you are on some of the Cycladic Island like we did.
Of all three properties of Elounda SA Hotels & Resorts, Elounda Peninsula is the most exclusive by our opinion. Each suite has a private heated saltwater swimming pool except the Junior suites but they are conveniently located right by the beach. We stayed at one of the Peninsula Collection Suites – a luxurious and spacious double story suite. The master bedroom and bathroom are located upstairs and the views over the Aegean Sea are hard to beat.
Elounda Peninsula includes a phenomenal selection of restaurants, lounges, nine-hole golf course, luxurious spa, kid’s Ark, watersports, tennis courts, luxury yacht cruises, gym, indoor and outdoor pool, shopping at the arcades at Playiada and even a wine cellar. Let’s not forget the private sandy beach with umbrellas and sun chairs that we enjoyed every day. The water is crystal clear and ideal for a swim.
The Six Senses Spa
You don’t have to go all the way to Bali to experience one of the leading spas, The Six Senses Spa will blow your mind. It’s sensational! No wonder why it has won numerous awards, including World’s Best Spa. The space is massive and tastefully designed with the idea of being the perfect sanctuary for your ultimate relaxation and rejuvenation. It offers astonishing sea views with massive windows connecting the indoor pool with the outdoor infinity pool. Here, you can have not only a fantastic selection of treatments but you can also enjoy the thalassotherapy pool and thermal suite as well as yoga and TRX training.
Elounda Peninsula offers an exceptional breakfast buffet in the morning as well as a selection of specials cooked to order that is unparalleled in both quality and aesthetic appeal. No matter what you like to eat, chances are you can find your favorite food and a culinary pleasure of the local foods. For lunch and dinner, guests can visit restaurants in any of the sister hotels. Our favorite experience was at the fine-dining Old Mill restaurant in a lush green garden overlooking the sea. The chefs innovated Cretan Fusion cuisine with its intriguing combinations is full of fascinating and unusual tastes. They were beyond accommodating to our dietary restrictions as vegans and created outstanding meals for us.
With all that being said we can only add one last thing about Elounda Peninsula, they deliver the most exceptional service that stands out and makes them an award-winning hotel. The remarkable staff will go the extra mile to make sure you have the vacation you have always dreamed of. Their hospitality is admirable and it is what makes the guests want to go back again.
