We just returned from our trip to Tulum in Mexico, and we can’t wait to share the experience with you. If you are following our blog and Instagram for awhile, you would know that this is our third time in Mexico. Although we like to tick off new destinations every time we travel the world, there are certain places that we could always visit again. Mexico is one of those places. A few years ago we went to Playa del Carmen, but we’ve never been to Tulum. We’ve heard so many great things about it that it was time to see it for ourselves. When it comes to choosing a place to stay, you have lots of amazing options but we couldn’t be happier with our choice. We stayed right on the beach at the lovely boutique hotel Hotelito Azul Tulum. We can’t highly enough recommend it, and we will tell you why you should stay there too.
Hotelito Azul, Tulum – Why you should stay there
Have you ever dreamed of waking up in the morning, opening your eyes and the first thing you see from your bed is the ocean? To make one step, slide your glass door and within 5 seconds your toes are buried in the sand. To feel the warm breeze gently blowing your hair, and you feel grateful for life as you see the sunrise painting incredible art in the sky? I know we have. All of this was a real experience and not just a dream at Hotelito Azul in Tulum.
The Hotel
Hotelito Azul is a stylish, recently renovated boutique hotel nestled in a prime location in one of the most beautiful beaches in Mexico, Tulum. It’s really close to the Mayan ruins and some of the Cenotes. The hotel fully embodies and compliments the natural beach surroundings, which we loved. With magnificent views of the Caribbean and the white sand beach, cutting-edge chic design and exceptional service you will enjoy yourself to the fullest.
We had an overnight flight from Los Angeles to Cancun and we arrived at the hotel early at 10am. Hotelito Azul had arranged for private transportation to pick us up at the airport and the drive took only 1.5 hours. Since it was early our room wasn’t available yet, but they have a courtesy room that you can use to change and go relax on the beach. That worked out well for us, we enjoyed some drinks and food while we soaked in the sunshine. The moment we stepped on the beach life slowed down and we felt like we were in paradise.
The Rooms
Hotelito Azul has 22 beach rooms with eco-friendly contemporary designs that highlight the beauty of the surroundings. Every room has its own patio and of course the best part, a hammock. We stayed in their sand room, which is right on the beach with the most unforgettable view. Everything is made with love and attention to details. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds we’ve slept in, and that is from people who have traveled to 50 countries and slept in many beds. We woke up every morning to watch the most astonishing sunrises that Mother Nature creates. Honestly, we couldn’t have asked for a better stay.
The Food
Included in your room is a delicious breakfast that you can enjoy either at the beach restaurant or Ojo De Agua. Being vegans sometimes we’ve experienced challenges when we travel. Thankfully, we had plenty of choices to eat at Hotelito Azul and Tulum. Let me tell you that their avocado toast and smoothies are a must.
Tulum
Being spoiled to have seen a quarter of the world it takes a special place to impress us. Well, Tulum is definitely one of them. We absolutely love the fact that there’s not even one high rise hotel and everything is built so environmentally friendly. The main street parallel to the beach doesn’t have even one power line, incredible. Everything is in harmony with nature, everyone is so nice and welcoming. The blue ocean and the beach are so pristine that leaves you in awe.
A must see are the Mayan ruins ( make sure you are at the gate 10 min. before it opens at 8am, it gets so crowded ), The Cenotes ( which unfortunately we didn’t visit since will chilled too much at the beach ).
We hope that we inspired you to visit Tulum and stay at the wonderful Hotelito Azul. You can book your stay directly with them CLICK HERE.
This is definitely a place that we can’t wait to go back, and we wish you get to experience it as well. Comment if you have any questions or shoot us an email. We would love to hear from you.

I haven’t ever been to Mexico, but it’s been on my bucket list for a long time! This hotel looks oh-mazing and the fact that you can just slide a door open and have your toes in the sand is AWESOME. There is one problem I see with this place though: I’d never want to leave!!!!
I have been in Mexico but never in Tulum! This hotel seems like the kind of paradise I want to try on my next time in Mexico, loving the blue colors of the rooms and the fresh fruit of the beach restaurant.
I have never been to Mexico but I know several people who have and it seems to be gaining in popularity as a must see destination here in Ireland. Tulum and the paradise Hotel you stayed in looks like the ideal beach lovers heaven. The rustic decor of the hotel blends beautifully with the beach outside.
I have never been to Mexico and with so many places to visit I wouldn’t know where to visit first. All vacations should provide the luxury of an ocean few and sand right outside my sliding glass door.
I’ve visited Mexico before and would love to visit this hotel. It looks so relaxing and the perfect getaway spot.

What an amazing place. Looks so beautiful. I would love to visit Mexico one day. Never been there before.
First of all I have to say that as soon as I saw your beautiful photography I had to follow you on Instagram , your travels are so inspiring. Secondly your stay at Tulum looked so magical, I loved how near the beach you were and its great to hear that you had so many choices as vegans. I am a vegetarian but I eat a lot of vegan food and sometimes I agree it can be challenging to find food that is suitable for us. That avocado toast is everything!
WOW!! What a place to stay! I can only dream of a holiday like that, one day I will definitely go somewhere as beautiful…when the kids are grown!
