When it comes to choosing a tropical vacation with pristine beaches and crystal clear water, you can never go wrong with the Caribbean Islands. They are a favorite well-known destination to many travelers from all over the world. And one of the most exclusive islands of all is probably the famous and glamorous French Caribbean Island of Saint Barthelemy or known as St. Barts. It’s notorious for drawing celebrities, supermodels and the high elite to its 20 miles of breathtaking coastline and luxurious accommodations. It’s like no other island we’ve been to, it’s a fascinating combination of sunny Côte d’Azur and the Caribbean. No wonder this paradise caught the eye of the French hotelier and interior designer Madame Jocelyne Sibuet. The Sibuet family of hoteliers are the founders of the French luxury group Maisons & Hotels Sibuet and they recently added a new venture, the remarkable 5 start boutique hotel Villa Marie Saint-Barth. We are so lucky to have experienced their other Villa Marie in St. Tropez, where we were blown away, so this didn’t disappoint us either.
Villa Marie Saint-Barth
The hotel showcases a perfect blend of a bohemian, Colonial plantation, and colorful Caribbean design making it stand out from the very first moment. It honors the West Indies architectural style mixing colors, textures, indoor and outdoor spaces blending seamlessly into the tropical surroundings. Pearched hight on the hill of the Colombier coast, Villa Marie once again embodies the signature intimate and authentic ambiance of Sibuet Hotels.
The Rooms
The hotel offers 21 bungalows and villas, all designed in different bright color schemes and decor that enchants the eye. Our bungalow had an astonishing view of the crystal clear waters of Flamands Bay and the perfect intimate setting for our heavenly tropical getaway. Once again the interior design is something that stands out and proves the impeccable taste of the owner Jocelyn Sibuet. You can tell that every detail from the artisanal furnishing and fabrics to the seashell mirrors, seems to be handpicked from different parts of the world. Whitewashed walls, rattan furniture, vintage pieces and vibrant colors complete with luxury French elegance topped our expectations.
The Poolside
The pool area is surrounded by thriving green vegetation consisting varieties such as cactus, mango and banana trees, blooming bougainvillea and giant palm trees. The green lush creates a seamless feeling of tranquility and helps you relax. We can easily say that we absolutely enjoyed the art de Vivre taking dips in the turquoise water, soaking up the sun and lounging at the lemon-yellow parasol.
Breakfast was served by the pool unless you choose to have it delivered to your room. We liked indulging with our delicious breakfast while sitting under the umbrellas, staring at the beautiful pool and feeling the tropical breeze. How can we emphasize how wonderful the food is, even for vegans like us? The coconut milk chia seed pudding was to die for and so was the delectable avocado toast. It was a great way for us to start the day.
The Spa
You can’t stay at Villa Marie and not experience a treatment at The Pure Altitude Spa. We enjoyed a sensational relaxing massage and facial treatment. It helped us unwind and transport ourselves in a true relaxing state of mind.
The Restaurant
This is where the bright star of chef Emmanuel Motte comes to shine. With his exquisite and sophisticated cuisine, he will teleport you to the French Provence. The François Plantation restaurant offers the finest French cuisine with Caribbean influenced recipes, a delight for your soul. No words can describe the gastronomy experience we had with the specially created vegan dinner for us. From the appetizers to the desert, we had explosions of heavenly flavors that blew us away.
Activities
There are lots of things to see and do in St Barth, from pristine beaches, sailing, surfing to shopping and nightlife. The highlight of our stay was most definitely the unforgettable picnic on the beach. The staff at Villa Marie prepared the perfect lunch at one of the most beautiful and unspoiled beaches on the island, the Gouverneur. It’s something you have to experience.
The Service
One of the many things that makes Villa Marie an outstanding 5-star hotel is the impeccable service. Every member of the staff made sure we had the best and unforgettable stay. Once again we were truly amazed by how genuine and friendly every employee is and how happy they were to be working there. The experience we had is solid proof that the Maisons & Hotels Sibuet deserve to have their name in the luxury hotelier business.
